These days our lives are so busy. Finding time to manage our jobs, home life and extra-curricular commitments leave little time for oneself. Health often takes a back burner to the daily routines. Self-care is sometimes forgotten. However, self-care means looking after our number one asset, our health. Health is not something we can depend upon to merely exist. It is a valuable treasure that we must earn. How can we reach the goal of better health? Where can we start? Many of our patients ask this question upon realizing they have less than ideal health perhaps after a medical diagnosis or while experiencing pain or other symptoms. Let's strive towards achieving this strength rather than trying to recover it. Here is my simple suggestion to make this important change as fast and easy as possible. The Chiropractic visit is a simple and fast way to spring into better daily decisions leading to the ultimate goal of better health. Think of your adjustment as a stepping stone. The body is clear of subluxations and functioning on a higher level. In this state, injury is less likely to occur. Take advantage of the timing and desire to move that properly functioning body. We are designed to move. Our muscles, ligaments, and joints depend on motion for proper function. This doesn't mean 60 minutes of activity per day. A brisk 15-minute walk once or twice per day works wonders for the body and mind. Find something you enjoy doing. Following physical activity, it is much easier to make good real food choices. Before you know it you're eating better. With these changes also comes better rest and a more positive attitude. All of these are equally important facets of health. Lastly, don't forget to unplug a little. Turn off the phones, data, social media, etc. even for just an hour a day. Your mind and body will thank you!
